all done with the painting..... this 6 month chapter of the remodeling marathon is almost at an end. All I have to do now is hang a new ceiling fixture, put on the new outlet covers, hang the blinds and curtains, and put the crib and furniture in the room. high fives are almost in order. I will soon celebrate with an ice cold beer and a long satisfying sigh.....

ouch.......ouch......ouch.......man..... I’m sore. ouch.. even typing hurts......my fingers are smashed and raw from hammers, adhesives, mineral spirits and caulk, and hauling and sawing. I have to walk reeaaaaal slow because my legs hurt from squattin and sittin and bendin and standin and scootin around. Fortunately, the reward for this pain and suffering far outweighs my temporary discomfort. The hardwood oak-plank floor is down; the baseboards are down; and the casings are up, and caulked, and primed, and ready for the last little coat of paint.....ouch...and it looks bad-ass......no, even better..... it looks

Thanks to Grandma for sharing her weekend with my little angel and creating memories she'll always smile about. She had a great time.

I'm getting closer and closer to wrapping up my remodeling tasks. The last room has been painted and the last window trimmed. Next step: laying the oak hardwood floor, staining the fresh window trim to match, installing new baseboards and building some shelves.

My darlin is now 1/2 way effaced, 2 cm dilated and still running around gardening and cleaning and doing too much stuff in general. If you see her, tell her to slow down.

The good news is that exactly 10 years ago today, I was lucky enough to marry my darlin. Smartest thing I ever did.

the bad news is that chiggers totally suck

When I was but a wee lad, I was quite a fan of Iron Maiden, and was quite sure that they were the best band in the world. As time passed, I found other music to enjoy and became quite sure that most of it was far superior to Iron Maiden for this reason or that. I was right...........but here I sit, twenty years in the future, with goosebumps crawlin up my arms because it kicks so much ass.
